Deep-Sky Objects

Nebulae, galaxies and clusters — what has been captured and what is still to come.

What deep-sky objects are

Deep-sky objects are everything beyond the Solar System that is not a single star: galaxies, nebulae and star clusters. The name comes from being very far away and, for the most part, too faint for the naked eye. A camera that gathers light for minutes or hours reveals the shapes and colors the eye cannot see.

These are the types you will find in the catalog. Click a type to see its objects.

The catalog also has notable stars, star systems and peculiar objects that do not fit neatly into the categories above.
